"the me I want to be" Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Discover the Flow

Reflections
"God's plan is for you to become the best version of you, but right now there are two versions of you. There is the you God made you to be - and there is the you that currently exists.

What do you do with the gap?"

This is why anyone would be reading this book: They recognize the gap. Recognizing the role of God's grace in closing this gap and embracing that role is important. God's grace exists to be our salvation and to give us life. Just as it only takes one step to begin your walk with God, it only takes one step that lacks faith or clarity to fall out of stride. God's grace is like a soft British voice that I recognize more than I'd like to admit, "Recalculating route..."

Many of you know that upon graduating I made the decision to move to Tennessee. It was a step of faith in some ways. I didn't have a solid job but I wanted to be closer to my 83 (almost 84) year old Grand-dad. I thought that I could benefit from his wisdom and being closer to him would help. Three days before I left Ohio, I was asked if I would consider a job in Ohio if one were to come up in the next couple of weeks. Once I was in Tennessee for a couple of weeks, I received and accepted a job in Worthington, Ohio. I love Tennessee but God is opened a door in Ohio (and continues to open doors). I feel blessed by the time that I have had with my Grand-dad and hopefully I'll have other opportunities to invest in our relationship. All I can say is, "Thank you Lord for your grace."

Quotes
"At the beginning of our life with God, we are aware of the gap between God and us, separation from God because of sin. We come to understand that we cannot bridge this gap by our efforts or good behavior. We cannot earn God's love and forgiveness; it comes only by God's grace. Salvation is given by the grace of God, achieved through the power of God, offered through the spirit of God, and made secure by the promise of God. And so we commit our life to God. But there is still a gap."

"God's plan is not just for us to be saved by grace - it is for us to live by grace."

"I can't make myself loving or joyful. A trees job is not to try to bear fruit; the trees job is to abide near the river."

"All that is needed in any moment is a sincere desire to be submitted to the Spirit's leading. We need not worry about God's response; a sincere heart never needs to fear that God is upset."
